ANK protected owners of m/v “ALAA M”

Attorneys of ANK Law Firm successfully defended the interests of TAJ MANAGEMENT MARITIME CO (Turkey) in a case related to the detention of the ALAA M vessel in the waters of the Pivdennyi Commercial Sea Port in August 2025. The reason for the detention of the vessel was financial claims by detectives from the Economic Security Bureau against a Ukrainian export company, whose cargo (5,300 tons of soybeans) had been loaded onto the vessel on 12 August. At the request of the Economic Security Bureau detectives, the Kyiv District Court of Odessa decided to seize the cargo (soybeans) that had already been loaded onto the ship, and the ship was ready to leave the port and had even managed to cross the border.

The ANK Law Firm team studied the case materials and developed a strategy to protect the rights and interests of the shipowner, which, in cooperation with the cargo owner’s and the charterer’s attorneys, resulted in the cancellation of the arrest of the cargo on board, allowing the ship to depart. Since the vessel belongs to a Turkish shipowner, the ANK team informed the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Odessa about the situation, which provided support to the shipowner in communicating with the local authorities involved in the detention of the vessel.

ANK team in the subject has been represented by the attorneys-at-law Artem Volkov and Kostiantyn Moriakov under the general supervision of the managing partner Oleksandr Kyfak.
