Asters defended one of Ukraine’s largest fertiliser and agricultural traders in a USD 3.5 million maritime dispute

Asters successfully defended the interests of one of Ukraine’s largest fertiliser and agricultural traders in a USD 3.5 million maritime dispute arising from the loss of cargo caused by an incident to the vessel during its carriage to Ukraine.

The dispute involved a series of arbitrations in London against the owner and the disponent owner of the vessel, as well as complex negotiations with the defendants in these arbitrations, salvage company, insurance companies, and other parties concerned. The pinnacle of the project was procuring the arrest of another (sister) vessel, owned by a defendant in the arbitration, during its voyage to a Ukrainian port. The dispute ended with a mutually accepted compromise, which resulted in several settlement agreements.

Asters team working on the project included сo-managing partner Oleksiy Didkovskiy, partner Oksana Legka, counsel Andriy Stetsenko and Oleg Samsonovych.
