Resilient Amid Turmoil

Welcome to our latest edition of the Ukrainian Law Firms. A Handbook for Foreign Clients, a publication that has steadfastly traced the evolution of the legal sector through various challenges, most notably the ongoing Russian aggression that has marked the years of 2022-2023. This edition is unlike any previous one – it was crafted under conditions that tested our resilience, adaptability, and commitment to providing insightful analysis despite the tumultuous backdrop of warfare.

Over the past two years, our team, which continues to be based in Kyiv, has experienced firsthand the realities of working under air raid alerts, power outages, and the overarching threat. This close proximity to the day-to-day challenges faced by Ukrainian society and the legal community has infused our research with a depth of understanding and relevance that is both unique and profound.

Recognizing the limitations and constraints imposed by the war, we have moved our publication online and redesigned our research framework with relevant areas and sectors to better reflect the current market dynamics. Our research for this edition spans a two-year period marked by war – 2022-2023. Law firms and legal practitioners have shown remarkable adaptability, pivoting their services to meet new demands such as military law, war damages, humanitarian issues, and sanctions-related advisories. We have captured these shifts comprehensively, thanks to our dedicated team, who pushed the boundaries of traditional research by engaging in more in-depth interviews and expanding our analysis to cover newly emerged practice areas.

In response to these extraordinary circumstances, we’ve revised our ranking methodology to avoid distorting the market landscape. To address this, we listed firms and individuals alphabetically, an approach that ensures fairness without in any way compromising the integrity of our findings.

As we present this twenty-first edition, we do so with a sense of pride in the resilience of the Ukrainian legal community. The insights that are gathered here are not just a testament to the adaptability and perseverance of our legal professionals but also a crucial tool for planning the future for the broader reconstruction and recovery of our nation.

We thank our readers for their continued trust and engagement with our research. We hope this edition serves as both a resource and a source of inspiration during these trying times.
